Protective Hairstyles for Natural Hair

African-American women are blessed with thick hair that can be shaped into a lot of beautiful hairstyles. However, natural dryness of kinky hair is the other side of the medal that needs special care. Protective hairstyles can decrease the stress of environmental factors on natural hair.Today I am showing you different protective hairstyles that we as young black women can use.

1. Braids
Braids are the ultimate protective hairstyle because they are easy to maintain and they can last for weeks. There are a lot of different ways to do braids.

2. Faux Locs
Faux locs are basically fake dreadlocs. It is an easier way than to actually lock your hair, and it looks cute too.

3. Multiple buns
These little buns will decrease the chance of your hair frizzing up and becoming a total disaster. It was an protective style for kids back in the day but people managed to bring it back for adults.

         4. Ghana Braids
Ghana braids is a protective style that was very popular over            the summer. People from all races did these braids and did              them in different ways.

5. Sew-ins
Last but not least we have weave. Sew-ins. Wigs.A very popular style that almost every African-American woman uses to protect their natural hair. It's a good way to grow your hair but you can also do a lot of different hairstyles.

Taking Care of Your Skin

A lot of people do not know how to properly take care of their skin. They wear makeup without using a primer or using facial products that can actually protect your skin. Taking care of your skin is important because the older you get, the harder it will be to take care of your skin. So why not start while you're young?

First thing first is to use a gentle soap to clean your body. Don't forget under your arms and behind your ears! Your face needs attention, especially as you enter puberty and the skin on your face gets more oily. It's a good idea to wash your face once or twice daily with warm water and a mild cleanser.

1. Use an oatmeal face mask, if you have acne, sensitive, or oily skin.
2. Try a yogurt mask if you have dull, dry skin.
3. Put some honey on your face.
4. Make a simple sugar scrub.
5. Take a milk bath, especially if you have dry skin.
6. Use natural oils to moisturize your skin.
7. Try a spa day.

Wash your face twice a day with warm water and a mild soap made for people with acne. Gently massage your face with circular motions.

Raschelle Smith (msroshposh) Skin Care Routine

Raschelle Smith or better known as "msroshposh" is a well-known social media star that does makeup tutorials, skin care routines, clothing hauls and challenges on her Youtube account MsRoshPosh. Check out her newest video in the link below!

Bethany Mota (macbarbie07)

Bethany Noel Mota (born November 7, 1995) is a blogger. Starting with her YouTube channel (Macbarbie07) created in 2009, she rose to fame for her haul videos, in which she shows her fashion and style purchases via the internet. She uploads videos of outfit ideas, makeup and hair tutorials, recipes, and do it yourself ideas. She has expanded into her own fashion line at AĆ©ropostale. She has gone on multiple tours, which she calls her "motavatours" to meet and interact with fans. She has also been on Season 19 of Dancing with the Stars.

She has partnered with J. C. Penney and Forever 21, and, in December 2013, she launched a clothing, perfume, and accessories line at AĆ©ropostale. She keeps a close relationship with her fans and involves their ideas into her fashion design. Teen Vogue called her style laidback but girly.
On October 13, 2014 she released a single, "Need You Right Now" with Mike Tompkins. Bethany wrote her own song, "Be Who You Wanna Be", and uploaded it on her YouTube channel.

My favorite Youtube video that she uploaded would be the roadtrip video that she published on July 1, 2013. She was getting roadtrip ready with her friends Ava, Roxy and Alexis. Later on in the video the guys joined who were Kian Lawley, Connor Franta and Ryan Potter. I like this video because all the friends are having a good time and ever since I've seen the video I've been wanting to do a roadtrip with my friends one day. My other favorite video of her would be Draw My Life which was published on May 8, 2013. Because of that video a lot of fans were able to connect with her in a physical way and we learned a lot about her past. It made me respect her even more and she was like a role model to me.

Aaliyah Jay

Aaliyah Jay is a Youtuber and professional makeup artist. She created her channel in November 2011 but her first video wasn't dated until almost a year later. She had over 25 million views on her channel by February 2016. She is a Boston, Massachusetts native. She later moved to New York City. The reason why she's my favorite Youtuber is because she taught me how to do makeup and she is like a role model to me.

Aaliyah's Instagram is @aaliyahjay and her Twitter is @AaliyahJay as well. Her Youtube account is MsAaliyahJay and the same goes for her Snapchat. From hair extension reviews, to make up tutorials, some crazy ass story times, and even a boob vlog, Aaliyah has completely let us all in to her world.
Aaliyah is actually her middle name! Her real name is Joy but since she was made fun of frequently as a child, and wasn’t a fan of the name herself she decided for social media purposes that she would switch it up. Makeup is not the only thing that has made Aaliyah wildly popular amongst her fans. Aaliyah can easily relate to her fan base, which is mostly made up of young girls. On YouTube she has discussed her struggles with her peers and being bullied in school, boyfriend problems, and her own insecurities.

The reason why I decided to make this blog post about Aaliyah is because she has always inspired me to become an makeup artist and with help from her tutorials I might just get there one day. She has been through a lot growing up but she still stands strong and makes things happen, and turns it into a success. I admire her a lot and also look up to her.

My Top 5 Makeup Brands

So as you guys can tell about the title of my blog I'm very passionate about Cosmetology. I started wearing makeup when I was 13 years old, which is quite young, but I started developing a passion for makeup around that age. Over the years I've been seeing a lot of different brands, and the quality of them. In this post I'm going to list my top 5 of Make up brands.

1. Mac Cosmetics
Mac Cosmetics is one of the most popular makeup brands worldwide. I like this brand because it has good quality products and I love the lipsticks they have. It might be a little bit on the pricey side, but it's definitely worth it.

2. Laura Mercier
Laura Mercier is a pricey brand that a lot of professional makeup artists use in their looks. I like her brand because she also give a lot of advice on how to keep your skin healthy and use her products the right way.

3. L.A Girl
L.A Girl is a affordable brand that you can purchase in any beauty supply store. They are most known for their concealer, because that is what most makeup artists  use. I like L.A Girl because they are affordable and they have great quality.

                                                 4. NYX
NYX is an average costing brand that you can purchase almost anywhere. It has great quality and the price range is about 10 - 20 dollars. The item I like the most about this brand is the translucent powder.

5. Anastasia Beverly Hills
Last we have Anastasia Beverly Hills. This brand is more on the pricey side, but it's still a brand that a lot of people love and therefore purchase. It is most known for their eyebrow products, and their eyeshadows.

It's okay to be you

During my lifespan I've seen people get bullied because of how they look and how they like to dress. They always end up being hurt or they change the way they dress because others might stop picking on them if they do that. Do not feel any type of way when people call you out of your name. It's okay to be different.
People have a different personalities and therefore different opinions about a lot of stuff. Somebody might say that you look awful and weird, but the other might say that you look cute and unique. It does not matter what they say. You are you. Do not let anybody tell you what to wear and how to do your makeup. If you feel confident with wearing tons of makeup, do it. If you feel comfortable by just going natural, do it. Do what suits YOU, not others. Listening to other people can be a negative influence on your life, because you will start to feel like you're not good enough, but if you're happy with yourself and the way you look, you will always be good enough. You're perfect the way you are.

This blog post was just to remind you that you're worth it, you're beautiful, and you're unique the way you are.

What is Fashion to me?

Fashion to me is a mean of self-expression that allows people to try on many roles in life. Fashion accommodates the chameleon in all of us. It’s a way of celebrating the diversity and variety of the world in which we live. Fashion is about change which is necessary to keep life interesting. It’s also a mirror of the different types of people in a society. It’s a way of measuring a mood that can be useful in many aspects. At the same time, fashion shouldn’t be taken too seriously or you will lose the fun of it. We get the chance to show our personalities without even having to speak to a person, which is great, because that is how you can make friends without even having to see how the person behaves around you. What about you, what is Fashion for you?

Welcome!

Naomi's House of Fashion & Cosmetology

"Fashion is a popular trend, especially in styles of dress and ornament or manners of behavior." - Wikipedia
"Cosmetology is the professional skill or practice of beautifying the face, hair, and skin." - Google

Fashion & Cosmetology is something a lot of people are passionate about. It comes in different brands, companies and sizes. Both of the topics have something to do with art. Having on makeup makes me feel confident, and not because I’m insecure about how I look without makeup but because it looks good and it’s something I love to do and something I would love to specialize in. The same thing goes for fashion. I love it and I do not care about people that have opinions about the way I look or dress because it’s me and that’s what matters. Fashion can tell a story about the person who wears it. The style you have can separate you in groups. Everybody has a different opinion on the way you may look or dress, but what really matters is that you're confident and comfortable in your clothes. You are unique and beautiful the way you are and do not let anybody tell you that you're not.

This blog is going to be consisting of a lot of Fashion & Cosmetology updates, pictures, and blog posts about my experiences and products. Stay tuned until next time!
